Las Vegas has no shortage of things to do.

You can spend the afternoon exploring the Strip, catch a show, watch the Bellagio fountains, have dinner overlooking the city, or spend the entire night moving from one bar to the next. But if you really want to experience Las Vegas, don't stop with the obvious attractions. Some of the most memorable Vegas experiences happen after dark—and some don't even begin until most visitors are already heading back to their hotels.

From exploring the Strip to dancing until sunrise, here are some of the must-do things in Las Vegas to put on your list, especially if you're visiting for a weekend, Halloween, New Year's Eve, or one of the city's major electronic music events.

1. Experience the Las Vegas Strip at Night

It's obvious, but it's obvious for a reason. Las Vegas is completely different after sunset. The lights come on, the crowds grow, music pours out of the resorts, and the Strip becomes an attraction in itself.

Take a walk through the major resorts, explore the different casino properties, stop for a cocktail, and give yourself some time to simply take in the city.

You don't necessarily need a strict itinerary. Part of the fun is seeing where the night takes you. But if you're planning a full night out, don't make the mistake of assuming the Strip is the entire experience.

There's much more happening once the main clubs start closing.

2. See Las Vegas From a Rooftop

Las Vegas has plenty of incredible views, but seeing the city from above at night is a completely different experience. Rooftop lounges and nightlife venues give you a chance to step away from the casino floor and take in the skyline while you're actually part of the nightlife. And there's something particularly memorable about seeing the city from a rooftop at 4 or 5 AM. That's one of the reasons Terrace Afterhours has become part of the Las Vegas afterhours scene.

Located just off the Strip on the rooftop of Larry Flynt's Hustler Club, Terrace Afterhours combines electronic music with an open-air rooftop environment where the night can continue into sunrise.

3. Stay Out Late Enough to Experience Las Vegas Afterhours

Here's one of the biggest things first-time visitors often miss: Las Vegas nightlife doesn't necessarily end when the major clubs close. Most traditional nightclubs begin winding down around 3–4 AM, but afterhours venues cater specifically to people who aren't ready to go home. The atmosphere changes, the crowd becomes more focused on the music, DJs have more room for extended sets, and the energy shifts from peak-hour spectacle into something more immersive.

Terrace Afterhours is built around that transition, with house, tech house, deep house, indie dance, and techno programming continuing into the early morning.

For anyone who loves electronic music, staying out until sunrise can be one of the most memorable things you do in Las Vegas.

4. Watch the Sunrise From a Dance Floor

Most people associate Las Vegas with neon lights. But there's another side of the city that's worth experiencing: Sunrise.

At Terrace, the open-air rooftop gives you the opportunity to watch the sky change while the music continues. The city looks completely different as the sun starts coming up. What started as a night out becomes an entirely different experience. And if you've never danced through sunrise in Las Vegas, it's worth putting on your list at least once!

5. Explore the Electronic Music Scene

Las Vegas is one of the world's major destinations for electronic music. The city has everything from massive Strip nightclubs and festival weekends to underground house parties and late-night afterhours.

If you're a house, techno, or EDM fan, don't limit yourself to the biggest names on the Strip. Look at local lineups. Find the smaller events. And check what's happening after the headline event ends.

Terrace's calendar regularly brings together local residents, touring DJs, underground artists, and special electronic music events.  Sometimes the best discovery of your trip is an artist you had never heard of before arriving.

6. Do Something Unexpected on Halloween

If you're visiting Las Vegas around Halloween, don't spend the entire weekend at the same type of nightclub. Halloween is one of the best times of year to experience the more creative side of Vegas nightlife. Costumes are encouraged, venues transform, and people actually participate in the theme. And the city takes the opportunity to get weird.

Terrace Afterhours has historically embraced Halloween with themed decorations and costume-friendly events. The venue plans to do it again in 2026. It's worth keeping an eye out on their instagram page @terraceafterhours for the announcement.

7. Make New Year's Eve More Than a Midnight Countdown

New Year's Eve is one of the biggest nights of the year in Las Vegas. There's no shortage of ways to celebrate. You can watch the Strip fireworks, book a dinner, attend a massive nightclub event, or find a rooftop with a view of the city. But there's another option:

Terrace has a history of turning New Year's Eve into marathon afterhours experiences. Its previous NYE celebrations have included full-venue takeovers that ran from the evening of December 31 all the way into New Year's Day. One recent Terrace NYE event ran from 9 PM until noon, combining rooftop house and techno, fireworks views, a midnight champagne toast, and multiple areas throughout the venue.

Terrace's NYE events have also been featured in Las Vegas nightlife coverage, including a 15-hour rooftop party that continued until noon on New Year's Day. Las Vegas Weekly

That's a very different way to start a new year: Watch the fireworks. Keep dancing. Watch the sunrise. Then realize it's already January 1.

If you're planning a Las Vegas New Year's Eve trip, keep Terrace on your radar when the holiday lineup is announced.

8. Try Something Beyond the Typical Vegas Club

There's nothing wrong with going to one of the giant Strip nightclubs. They're part of what makes Las Vegas nightlife famous. But your entire trip doesn't have to revolve around the same experience.

Try something smaller. Try something outdoors. Find a venue where the music matters as much as the production. Terrace Afterhours was created around that idea.

The open-air rooftop, house-driven music, late-night atmosphere, stage design, go-go dancers, and sunrise setting create an experience that feels distinctly different from spending another night inside a massive casino nightclub.

For groups, Terrace also offers VIP tables with bottle service, fire-pit tables, and complimentary limo or party-bus transportation with qualifying reservations.

It's an entirely different way to spend a night out.

9. Check What's Happening During Your Visit

One of the best things you can do before a Las Vegas trip is check the event calendars. Don't assume the same venues will have the same experience every weekend. Las Vegas nightlife changes constantly. There might be a major DJ visiting, a special holiday event, an EDC Week party, themed night, one-off live performance. Or, an afterhours session that you wouldn't have known about without looking.

Terrace's event calendar is particularly useful if you're interested in Las Vegas EDM, house, techno, and afterhours events, with special events added throughout the year.

10. Leave Room for the Night to Go Somewhere Unexpected

This might be the most important Las Vegas tip of all. Don't plan every minute. Have your dinner reservation, know where you're starting the night, have an idea of what you want to see. But leave room for something unexpected.

Maybe you meet a group of locals who recommend a DJ, or discover an artist you didn't know while watching sunrise from a rooftop at 6 AM. That's the kind of thing that turns a normal Vegas weekend into a story you'll still be telling years later.

Keep an Eye on What's Coming Next

The best time to discover a Las Vegas nightlife venue isn't necessarily after you've already arrived. Start looking before your trip. Especially if you're visiting during Halloween, New Year's Eve, EDC Week, or another major Las Vegas weekend, special events can completely change what your night looks like.

Terrace Afterhours has become known for creating events around those moments rather than simply treating them like another Saturday night. And with the holiday season approaching, the calendar is only going to get more interesting. So if you're planning a trip to Las Vegas this fall or winter, keep an eye on the Terrace Afterhours events calendar.
